Unit Outcomes1. Identify all of the structures that food passes through from mouth to anus.
2. Identify all of the accessory organs that support digestion. 3. Identify all of the sources of enzymes (and accessory chemicals)used to undergo digestion of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. 4. Identify the locations, reactants and products of carbohydrate, protein and lipids digestion. 5. Identify the major function and processes that occur during the length of the alimentary canal to evolve food from the plate to the bolus, to chyme to feces that will be expelled through the voluntary and involuntary sphincters of the anus. Be able to identify the major digestive organs in cat: esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, gall bladder, small intestine, large intestine, ileocecal valve, sigmoid colon, ascending colon, descending colon, rectum. 7. Each student is required to turn in their own poster--but you are encouraged to collaborate with your peers. Case Study You will be completing a case study. Patient Kiera Owen. The files and associated lab will only be handed out in class. The lab on March 20th is essential to diagnosing the patient. If you are absent--you will be given the test results, but it will mean the highest grade you can obtain on the case study is a B. The write -up for the case study will only occur on March 22. Due to the sensitive nature of how the labs--determine diagnosis. You cannot complete this assignment early or late. If you are absent on the day of the case study, you should email [email protected] to discuss options (school-board approved absences only).
